The Journey

The moment God delivered you from your sins through faith in Jesus Christ, a journey began- A journey taking you through the wilderness of life into the promise land of God’s eternal kingdom.  As we sojourn together through this life, we have a great mission, and we have great needs.  The Songs of Ascent (Psalm 120-134) teach us that God has given us everything we need for the journey.  These songs were sung by God’s people as they set out three times a year on a literal upward journey to Jerusalem in order to celebrate Israel’s worship festivals.  We need to embrace and live out the truths of these songs, believing that this world is not our home, we’re just a passin’ through, and we are on our way up to the heavenly Jerusalem because of the gospel.

It is our hope that as God meets with us through these Psalms that He will cultivate within us a pilgrim lifestyle, whereby Christ provokes us to live our lives “down here” like we really belong “up there”.  On this Journey, God gives us everything we need through Jesus to carry out His mission to persevere to the end.
